Today the weather was perfect for another Sota in beautiful Estrie region, temperature in the mid 20's celcius,sunshine with some clouds and hardly any wind.
Aujourd'hui la météo était parfaite pour un autre Sota dans la très belle région de l'Estrie,le mercure dans les 20 degrés,soleil avec nuages et peu de vent.

I arrive on the summit after an hour's hike and since i am well in advance i explore the surroundings and take some photos.
Apres une heure de randonnée j'arrive au sommet avec une bonne avance et je prends le temps d'explorer les lieux tout en prenant des photos du paysage.

Normally this summit would be pretty crowded because of a very easy access via gondola...but this is the middle of the week, the skiing period had just ended and the tourist season not yet started
Ce sommet normalement achalandé car accessible a tous via la remontée mécanique (gondole) est aujourd'hui heureusement assez tranquille car nous sommes en milieu de semaine et entre la fin de la saison de ski et le début de la saison touristique.

I find myself an isolated spot and i install the station, i start off with a few calls on VHF but no answer... so on to 20m.
I'm right on schedule,by the first call i get 2 stations answering me and they both spot me right after our echange ( thanks Gary W0MNA and Rafael KP4RV) this will give me the kickstart for a run of about 25 minutes !
Je me trouves un endroit isolé et après avoir installé la station je débutes avec quelques appels en VHF, aucune réponse... Je procèdes donc avec le 20m. 
Les chasseurs sont au rendez-vous car au premier appel j'ai tout de suite deux stations qui me répondent et de plus ceux-ci me spottent sur Sotawatch ce qui me procures immédiatement un enchaînement de contacts !

But the lack of propagation gives me a hard time copiyng some stations and on top of that i've got some interference coming from the blinking red light atop the tower near by.
Mais la propagation n'est pas fabuleuse et je peine a entendre tous mes correspondants et sans compter aussi l'interférence causée par la lumière rouge qui clignote au sommet du pylône qui est tout près.

I still manage to work 9 stations in the USA and 5 DX contacts all on 20m. 40m is quite calm,a quick peek on 17m reveals only one small signal in the background. On 10m i hear a CW beacon and try to answer back to a station calling from Argentina but... no luck.
Malgré tout je réussi quand même a faire 9 contact avec les États-Unis et 5 DX tous sur 20m. 40m assez tranquille,un petit tour sur 17m une seule station entendue très loin. Sur 10m je captes une balise et une station de l'argentine qui appelle mais malheureusement il ne me reçoit pas.

After about an hour i put away the station in my rucksack, i follow a sign wich leads me on towards a few observation points and WOWW waht a view !:
Apres une heure d'opérations je plie bagages et ayant vu une indication je fait un petit détour vers une passerelle en bois qui menes a quelques plateformes d'observation.
Quel coup d'oeil !:

I have now an unobstructed view towards west so i try out VHF once again,this time i grab two stations 81 and 95 km away.Not bad with the HT and a small antenna !
This adds up to a total of 16 contacts:
Ayant maintenant une vue sans obstruction vers l'ouest j'en profites pour tenter ma chance de nouveau en VHF et cette fois je réussis 2 contacts sur des distances de 81 et 95 km,pas mal avec la petite antenne du portatif !

I head down by the same path wich led me up.
Je prends par la suite le chemin du retour par le même trajet qui m'a mené au sommet.

In conclusion: mount Orford is really worth it, a relatively easy hike and beautiful views on the summit.
En conclusion: le mont Orford en vaut vraiment la peine de par son accessibilité 
et aussi surtout pour la magnifique vue a partir du sommet.

Acces by the ski station is free and sherpas (dogs or goats maybe !) are accepted as long as they are in leash !
Il n'y a aucun frais d'acces en passant par la station de ski (prendre la montée "4 kilometres" a gauche) et il est permis d’emmener  son sherpa (chien) en laisse bien entendu !
