SHEFFORD  VE2/ES-008, 515m, 2 points

On this day of april 28th my intention was to arrive a few hours before sunset.
Mount Shefford has two designated Sota summits. On the image above: the peak to the left is ES-008 and to the right ES-033.
En ce jour du vendredi 28 avril mon intention était d'arriver au sommet une heure ou deux avant le coucher du soleil.
Sur l'image ci-dessus on aperçois le mont Shefford ou 2 crêtes distinctes sont référencées Sota: a la gauche ES-008 et a droite ES-033 que je ferai prochainement.

A good portion of the way up the mountain can be made by car but the final ascent must be made by foot.
Une bonne partie de la montée peut se faire en véhicule mais l’accès final au sommet s’effectue uniquement a pieds. 

Since the leaves are not out yet i can still have a bit of a view from the summit. 
La vue du paysage a partir du sommet n'est pas tout a fait dégagée mais quand même possible car il n'y a pas encore de feuillage. 

The chosen spot will be a little lower among the trees in the forest where i am protected from the wind.
Je m'installes dans le bois en contrebas pour être a l'abri du vent.

As soon as my station is installed i reach out to a few om's via the local repeater wich is right by me on the summit !!
Aussitôt la station installée,a l'aide de mon portatif j'avise quelques om's de ma présence via le répeteur local qui se trouve en fait a quelques mètres de moi !!

I will use the FT857d coupled to my "tape measure" beam to ake a few contacts on FM VHF .J'utiliserai le Yaesu 857d  branché a la petite antenne directive fabriquée a partir de ruban a mesurer pour effectuer quelques contacts en FM sur VHF.

First station responding to my call on 20m is Pete VE2TOW who spots me on Sotawtch.
Je lances quelques appels sur 20m et je loggues mon premier correspondant Pierre VE2TOW qui gentiment me spottes sur Sotawatch.

The following station will be GI0AZA from N.Ireland wich is a pleasant surprise ! i quickly work a few others from USA,Europe and locals.
Par la suite surprise, c'est GI0AZA en Irlande du nord réponds a mon appel ! s'en suit un court enchaînement de stations américaines,européenne et locales.

Last contacts will be made on 2 metres band but this time in SSB mode with a few stations from the neighboring Monteregie region.
Je termines sur la bande du 2 mètres cette fois en SSB ou je me fait entendre par quelques OM's du secteur de la Montérégie.

The sun is now below the horizon and i must pack up and hike down before total darkness.
Le soleil est maintenant sous l'horizon,je doit plier bagages avant la noirceur.
